Narrative

Topic: Write a story about something that happened at school. It can take place in any school at any point in your life.

Prewriting: Follow the method demonstrated in class on Monday using the three circles and the big moment. Prewriting should be completed first. It is part of your grade.

What you need to include:

Start  with someone doing something.

Include dialog which is conversation between the characters. Use paragraphs.

Length is always 1 1/2 sides of notebook paper.

Hook your prewriting and the story itself into your prong folder and turn it when you walk into class on Friday in the journal basket for your period.

Descriptive

Topic:

Think of a place where you enjoy going to eat. Describe this restaurant. Include specifics that help the reader to picture your restaurant. You should blend in what you you see, what your hear, what you do there, and how it makes you feel to be there.

Prewriting: Follow the method demonstrated in class on Monday using the three circles and the effect  you want to get across to your reader.

Writing Reminders: 

  1. Pick where you want to write about.  
  2. Think about your effect. (How do you feel about your place?    How do you want your readers to picture your place? How do you want them to feel about your place? 
  3. Choose three points you want to highlight about your place. 
  4. Each point gets a paragraph.
  5. Write your introduction and conclusion using the subject, effect, and a reference to your three main points.
  6. The conclusion should leave the reader with something to think about. Do not just copy the first paragraph!
